Version 1.7.2

Earlier in the year I received an app review stating that whilst the user liked the app, they’d prefer it in their native language. I said I’d be happy to support if they could share a translation with me… and a little while later I received an email with a really thorough translation of the app from English to Dutch!

When I initially built the app I didn’t expect it to prove popular, I built it because it was something I wanted to use, but I was definitely open to the idea of translating the app - it did however mean a fairly significant bit of refactoring to separate out all of the text into separate files, as well as implementing a framework to allow me to change the loaded language file on demand.

This proved to be more work than I expected, but it was definitely a worthwhile exercise and sets the app up well for further translations in future - if there’s a language you’d like to see the app translated into and are happy to help, then please drop me an email and I can share a reference file as a starting point.

In the meantime though, I hope my Dutch users enjoy being able to use the app in their native language!

What’s New

  • Air Fryr is now available in Dutch - change language in the Settings menu.

Version 1.7

A relatively small update this time - for a while I’d been keen to provide an easier way to share notes you’ve taken, so I’ve implemented a quick share function to the notebook. Inside any note you can now access a ‘share’ button that will pass the content of the note directly to the OS (iOS or Android) which can then make it available to either save to the clipboard (so that you can paste it elsewhere) or pass it directly to another app (for example if you want to message it to somebody else). In addition, I’ve updated the navigation on the notebook slightly - when editing a note there is now a ‘save’ button in the top right corner (where the ‘edit’ button is when viewing a note) - this lets you quickly save an update without having to scroll all the way down to the existing save button.

Finally, this update includes some updates to the underlying libraries and app configuration that is mandated each year - this doesn’t really change any functionality, but ensures I’m up to date with the latest platform policies.

What’s New

  • Quickly share your notes - press the ‘share’ button to open an OS native share prompt, allowing you to copy the note to your clipboard, or share it via another app (such as email or messages).
  • When editing a note, the ‘edit’ button in the top right of the page now transforms into a ‘save’ button, allowing you to save changes without scrolling to the bottom of the screen.
  • Under the hood updates to the build SDK and billing library, as well as updating target OS levels (mandatory changes to keep the app compliant with Apple and Google policies)

  • Corrected the spelling of ‘Celsius’ in the app (I’m definitely not proud of that one!)

Version 1.6

The latest version addresses some points raised in feedback via app reviews (a huge thank you to anyone that’s provided feedback, it’s genuinely useful to help make the app better!). Firstly, a few people have mentioned that using the sliders on the calculator page can make it difficult to get the exact input figure they want to enter - so I’ve implemented a change that makes the oven temperature and time info into buttons. When pressing the button, a pop-up appears allowing you to manually enter a value with the on-screen keyboard (this probably seems like a really simple change, but in reality I re-engineered a fair bit of how the whole page works in the background to achieve this!).

Separately it was pointed out to me that on iOS, when entering notes in the notebook, there’s no option to dismiss the on-screen keyboard (I’m an Android user, and didn’t notice this myself when testing via a simulator, so again massive thanks to those that pointed this out!). I’ve implemented a quick change that dismisses the keyboard if the user either clicks or scrolls anywhere outside of the keyboard.

What’s New

  • Enter values into the calculator using the on-screen keyboard, in addition to the original sliders
  • The on-screen keyboard can now be dismissed on the notebook screens by either clicking anywhere off the keyboard, or by scrolling the page.
  • Users in Europe will now see a ‘cookie prompt’, asking them to opt into ad tracking (generated by Google Admob) - this is a requirement for GDPR compliance.
  • All users can access these privacy options via a new ‘Privacy’ option in the sidebar.

Version 1.5

In v1.5 I’ve implemented a handy temperature reference guide - I find I often use a meat thermometer to confirm that my food is fully cooked and was constantly checking with Google to remind myself of the ideal temperatures… so I built a quick reference page into the app! I also introduced a quick first use demo, which pops up for new users giving a quick overview of the apps main features.

Version 1.4

Version 1.4 implements some mandatory changes to keep the app compliant with the Apple and Google platforms as well as to utilise the latest version of some internal libraries it makes use of. In addition it adds the ability to mark notes as favourites, and to filter the notebook to only show favourites to make them faster to find.

Version 1.3

In the initial version of Air Fryr I included the ability to add categories to any notes that you save, and now in this latest release I actually allow you to make use of those categories, by quickly filtering the notebook to show only the selected category - perfect if you want to quickly find a list of all the dessert recipes you’ve saved!

Version 1.2

In this release I’ve added the ability to remove the ads from Air Fryr through a simple in-app payment. Users can choose the price they want to pay to support the app and permanently remove ads.

Version 1.1

In the second app release I’ve made it easier to manage an ever growing notebook by including a real time search feature - simply begin typing the name of a note into the search box and the notebook will filter down to show notes matching the search criteria. In addition this update includes a link in the sidebar to take you directly to the App Store/Play Store to leave an app review - reviews really help to surface the app to new users as well as being a great way to tell me what you do and don’t like about the app, so please consider sharing your thoughts (good or bad!)

Version 1.0

The initial release of Air Fryr! Air Fryr has been built as a companion app for those looking to get the most out of their air fryer. It allows users to convert the oven cooking times provided in recipes/on packet instructions to timings more suitable for an air fryer, as well as to save these calculations to a notebook for future reference, or amendment (as rule of thumb calculatios aren’t always perfect, and everybodies machine is a little different).
